The electric shift at Mercedes is already well under way, but now comes its AMG sports division.

This AMG Vision aims to offer a glimpse of the all-electric future to come at AMG Driving Performance.

An electric supercar (also) at AMG

If Mercedes is already well present on the electric car market (especially with its EQ SUV) and hybrid, many were waiting for news from the brand’s sports division: AMG. The good news is that AMG will produce an electric vehicle developed from zero », while respecting the philosophy of the group, namely emotion, driving pleasure, maneuverability and sportiness.

This concept, called Vision AMG and developed in part from the new AMG.EA platform, is currently under development in Affalterbach. There, the firm’s headquarters will be dedicated to the brand’s future all-electric high-performance models.

A surprising design

This concept car takes up some stylistic elements already seen on the F1 of the Mercedes-AMG team, with “futuristic” elements such as the light signatures and the grille that is both closed and illuminated. There are also proportions that are radical to say the least.

Joints and closed lines in this monolithic design are kept to a minimum, also with rear and side windows painted in the same Alubeam silver color as the car itself. The sharp-angled tear-off edge at the rear incorporates an active spoiler that lengthens the side view while improving aerodynamics.

Mercedes insists on an in-house design on the powertrain on the one hand, but also on the high-performance high-voltage battery, not to mention the revolutionary drive technology. ” The powerful heart of the Vision AMG is its innovative axial flow motor developed by YASA, a 100% subsidiary of Mercedes-Benz, which delivers significantly more power than conventional electric motors “, we are promised.

Thus, this four-door coupe fitted with 22-inch tires should prefigure what AMG will offer in the brand’s electric future, which should start from 2025.
