Vivendi: jump in net income thanks to the split of UMG – 03/09/2022 at 18:26


(AOF) – Vivendi has published a net profit for 2021 which amounts to 24.69 billion euros, i.e. a multiplication by 17.2 in one year, thanks to the capital gain linked to the deconsolidation of UMG. Excluding this exceptional element, it was nevertheless multiplied by 2.2 to 649 million euros. EBITA more than doubled (x2.3) compared to 2020, reaching €690 million, driven by the good performance of all activities, in particular Canal+ Group, Havas Group and Editis. It thus shows an increase of 72% compared to 2019.

Vivendi also reported a net charge of 827 million euros. These include in particular the depreciation of Telecom Italia shares accounted for using the equity method, in the amount of 728 million euros, in order to take into account in particular uncertainties about the economic environment and strategic changes likely to affect Telecom Italia’s outlook.

The media group’s turnover grew by 10.4% (+8.6% organically) to reach 9.57 billion euros, including 2.7 billion (13.7%) at the last trimester. Canal+ represents around 60% of the activity and grew by 5.2% on an organic basis. Havas (24.5% of turnover) and Editis (approximately 9% of activity) experienced organic growth of 10.8% and 18.1% respectively.

Vivendi’s General Meeting of Shareholders will also be required to vote on the proposal for an ordinary dividend of €0.25 per share for 2021. It represents a yield of 2.1% compared to the closing price. from December 31, 2021.

Concerning the Ukrainian conflict, Vincent Bolloré’s group declared that it could not to date assess the indirect consequences on its activities. “Vivendi is mainly present in Ukraine through Gameloft. […] The Group also has communication activities in Ukraine with companies affiliated with Havas Group,” Vivendi explained.

He also clarified that his financial exposure to Russia and Ukraine was very low, but said he remained vigilant.
