Vivendi posts organic growth of 7.9% in Q1, thanks to Canal+ and Havas


PARIS (Agefi-Dow Jones)–The media and entertainment group Vivendi announced on Monday that it recorded growth in its turnover in the first quarter, thanks to the dynamism of its subsidiaries Canal+ and Havas.

Over the period from January to March, Vivendi’s revenue amounted to 2.38 billion euros, up 13.4% in reported data and 7.9% in organic data, i.e. at constant exchange rates and scope. According to FactSet, Oddo BHF anticipated quarterly revenue of 2.28 billion euros.

Canal +, now the pillar of the group accounting for 60.8% of its activity, saw its revenues increase by 6.5% in organic data in the first quarter, to 1.45 billion euros. Over the period, sales of the communication group Havas increased by 11.3% in organic terms, to 591 million euros, while the book publishing subsidiary Editis achieved a turnover of 160 million euros. euros, down 1.7%.

The group’s other businesses “benefit in particular from the gradual recovery of live shows,” Vivendi said in a press release. Their turnover registered organic growth of 24.2% in the first quarter, to 180 million euros. These other businesses include the video game publisher Gameloft and the magazine press specialist Prisma Media.

Regarding the current financial year, Vivendi did not provide a financial outlook. The leaders could be questioned on this subject during the general meeting of the group, which is held this Monday from 10:00 a.m.
