(AOF) – Vodafone has rejected the new merger proposal with iliad in Italy. Last mid-December, the British telecoms group was the subject of a proposal from the French operator in order to bring together their activities in Italy. This merger project between iliad Italia and Vodafone Italia giving birth to NewCo is therefore today at a standstill. Iliad has formulated an improved offer to Vodafone with the reaffirmed objective of creating the most innovative challenger in the telecommunications sector in Italy.
The proposal valued Vodafone Italia at 10.45 billion euros and iliad Italia at 4.45 billion euros and included the withdrawal of the purchase option initially considered for the benefit of the iliad group.
The iliad group intends to continue to strengthen its positions on the Italian market and pursue its offensive strategy in terms of gaining market share in all segments.
