This is excellent news for the German manufacturer Volkswagen. Its latest electric model, theID.5obtains the maximum score of 5 out of 5 in road safety.

This very favorable assessment has just been made public by the European New Vehicle Assessment Program (Euro NCAP).

Volkswagen is closing in on Tesla’s safety levels

The ID.5 is the latest 100% electric model offered by Volkswagen, and in terms of safety, it largely meets expectations. Indeed, during its review by Euro NCAP, the German firm’s electric coupe SUV scored an excellent 5/5.

In detail, the ID.5 obtains 35.6 points in protection of adults (93% of the maximum possible), 44 points in protection of children (89%), 41.3 points in protection of sensitive users (cyclists and pedestrians ) of the road (76%) and 13.6 points in driver safety assistance (85%). Performances which are very honorable, in particular in the protection of people inside the vehicle in the event of impact and potential extrication, but also in the prevention of collisions, speed or even maintaining the driver’s attention.

The ID.5 is therefore not so far from other models to obtain a comparable rating such as the Tesla Model 3. The latter obtains 96% in protection of adults, 86% in protection of children, 74% in protection of vulnerable road users and 96% in safety assistance. Now waiting for the review of the Model Y, one of the competitors targeted by Volkswagen with its ID.5.
