Volkswagen: launches into electricity trading with Elli

(CercleFinance.com) – Volkswagen Group and its brand Elli announced yesterday that they have become the first car manufacturer to start trading electricity on the German market of Europe’s largest electricity exchange, EPEX Spot.

This electricity trade is based on a stationary battery-based storage system e-up! and on a new digital electricity trading platform designed by Elli.

This stationary storage system called ‘PowerCenter’ will now be able to store electricity purchased on the energy market.

Led jointly by Elli and Volkswagen After Sales, this pilot project is a first step in the development of the Smart Energy Platform, the future intelligent energy platform.
