Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Sunday called for a “resolute and united” global response to the “terror” of Iran and Russia, condemning Tehran’s attack on Israel overnight. “Ukraine condemns Iran’s attack on Israel using Shahed drones and missiles,” he wrote on X (formerly Twitter), calling for everything to be done to avoid an “escalation” in the Middle-East.

“In Ukraine, we know very well the horror of similar attacks by Russia, which uses the same Shahed drones and Russian missiles, the same tactics of massive airstrikes,” he added, referring to these drones of Iranian manufacture.

Appeal to the US Congress

“Iran’s actions threaten the entire region and the world, just as Russia’s actions threaten a broader conflict, and the evident collaboration between the two regimes to spread terror must be addressed for a resolute and united response from the world,” he said. “It is essential that the American Congress takes the necessary decisions to strengthen America’s allies at this critical time,” argued Volodymyr Zelensky.

Ukraine is asking its allies for more military aid to confront the Russian invasion, which began more than two years ago. But political divisions in Washington have blocked this process and aid worth 60 billion remains blocked in the American Congress, to the great dismay of kyiv.
