Wacky horror fairy tale game gets its own series

The author of the first X-Men blockbusters, David Hayter, is working on a new series – based on two dark EA games. What is known about it so far?

What game is it?

Do you like dark games and have you looked at niche games in the past decades? Then you could Alice: Madness Returns – or its predecessor American McGee’s Alice – be a household name. The games retell the well-known story of Alice in Wonderland. With a dark twist.

In the EA games, Alice is anything but good: she has to experience how her entire family dies, loses her home and has suffered greatly from the trauma ever since. Her state of mind is also reflected in her dream world, to which she once loved to escape. Now it is the creepy monsterswho haunt the former paradise, and get old memories back.

What is known about the series so far?

The complex and dark plot would lend itself perfectly to a series, wouldn’t it? That has probably also David Hayter thought. The author of the first X-Men films is now apparently working with Radar Pictures on an adaptation of the first game, which was released 22 years ago.

Radar Pictures is known for films such as The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Last Samurai and the Jumanji series. McGee, before the Alice games Doom and Quake was involved is apparently already looking forward to the end product. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, he says Alice fans will be delighted with Hayter’s TV adaptation. (Source: The Hollywood Reporter)

The series is said to be in production. However, it is still unclear which platform it will appear on and whether it will be animated or cast with real actors.

Even the successor from 2011 is a real eye-catcher, at least in terms of style. Will the series get there?
