(Boursier.com) — walmart , an American retail giant, would cut more than 2,000 jobs at five e-commerce warehouses in the United States, Bloomberg reported yesterday, citing regulatory documents. The layoffs would include more than 1,000 warehouse positions in Fort Worth, Texas, as well as 600 fulfillment center jobs in Pennsylvania, 400 in Florida and 200 in New Jersey. Additional cuts are planned in California. Walmart is growing in parallel in some areas by adjusting its stores and fulfillment centers to handle more online orders, a spokesperson for the retailer told Bloomberg. This could therefore allow the group to reassign certain workers rather than eliminating their positions. Therefore, the net impact on total employment at Walmart, the largest US private sector employer, remains uncertain.
