Wanted internationally – police caught Romanian change scammers

At the weekend, two fraudsters were out and about in Carinthia, faking an emergency situation and thus exchanging worthless banknotes for euros. But now the police caught up with them.

After the fraudsters were up to mischief in Ferlach and Grafenstein on Saturday, the police received many reports of the same scam in the Spittal district on Sunday. “An indicator was able to photograph the license plate number of the murder vehicle,” reports the police. “As a result, officials were able to stop two Romanian suspects with their car near Gmünd after a search.” Internationally wanted fraudsters The two suspects (45 and 32 years) were temporarily arrested and interrogated. They showed up only partially or not at all. But “a few hundred euros in cash were secured in the vehicle,” the police continued. “During a data comparison, it turned out that there was an international arrest warrant against both men.” The Klagenfurt public prosecutor’s office therefore ordered the arrest of the two internationally wanted fraudsters and they were taken to the Klagenfurt prison. After the investigation is complete, they are to be reported to the public prosecutor’s office in Carinthia.
