Returning from the United States, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that if he were in the White House again, Donald Trump “would not give a cent” to Ukraine. A statement that the former president’s team did not wish to comment on.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, returning from the United States, claimed that Donald Trump had assured him that he “would not give a cent” to Ukraine – a statement that the ex-US president’s team did not comment on Monday.

“If the Americans do not pay money, the Europeans will not be able to finance this war alone”

Viktor Orban, the only leader in the EU to have maintained close ties with the Kremlin despite the Russian invasion of Ukraine, met the Republican candidate on Friday in his stronghold of Florida. “He has a very clear vision, with which it is difficult not to agree. He says this: first of all, he will not give a cent in the war between Ukraine and Russia” if he returns to the White House, the nationalist leader said Sunday evening on the public channel M1.

“If the Americans do not pay money, the Europeans will not be able to finance this war alone. And therefore the war will be over” because “it is obvious that Ukraine cannot get out of this on its own,” he added. The billionaire has “fairly detailed plans on how” to bring peace, according to Viktor Orban, who refused to reveal more.

Asked by AFP, Trump’s team made no comment. Donald Trump himself did not comment on the content of the interview, criticized by his rival Joe Biden. Viktor Orban, who met Russian President Vladimir Putin in September 2023, refuses to send any military support to Ukraine and regularly calls for a ceasefire, convinced that kyiv cannot win. Likewise, Donald Trump is pushing his supporters in Congress to block $60 billion in American military aid for kyiv, defended by President Biden.
