Warzone: Krampus will influence Godzilla and King Kong

The Creative Director of Call of Duty: Warzone explained how the first event with Krampus served the developers to polish the arrival of King Kong and Godzilla.

The event a few months ago with Krampus on Warzone had the Call of Duty community talking a lot. And now that more monsters are coming to the battle royale soon, Ted Timmins, Warzone’s creative director, explained how that first event influenced the developers on the next one.

The winter holidays were well celebrated on Vanguard and Warzone with the “Holidays” event which added a lot of skins, challenges and rewards. But one thing was blocking them: Krampus, this monster that hunted players in the middle of the game.

Krampus is clearly not the most popular NPC.

Even though the devs quickly nerfed it to make it less impactful in games, many players felt it stayed in the game too long. And now that King Kong and Godzilla are coming soon, the creative director of Warzone explained the influence that Krampus may have had on this event with the two monsters.

When you create something, you want to create something memorable. (Ted Timmins, Creative Director of Warzone)

He continued with his explanation: “On December 27, we (the devs) quickly called each other to nerf Krampus, he was too strong. If we do an event like Krampus, like King Kong and Godzilla, there should be a temporary mode so that players can have the choice to participate in this experience.

It is extremely pleasing to see that the developers are learning from their past mistakes to give us new and better experiences in Call of Duty: Warzone Pacific.
