Was very drunk – Robbery in Vienna subway: Man faked crime

According to the Vienna police, the 22-year-old came to the police station at the beginning of June and described the incident. He was threatened with a butterfly knife by two unknown male assailants in a subway car that night and was then robbed. The robbery never took place. During the course of the investigation and evaluation of the secured video sequences, the investigators were able to find out that no such incident had occurred at the locations specified. Man was very drunk. The man was therefore questioned again and confronted with the information obtained. He then told the officers that he had been very drunk that evening. The incident had happened like this in his “memory”. The Austrian refused to make any further statements. He was reported on suspicion of feigning a punishable act and giving false evidence.
