Washing machines at Stiftung Warentest: That’s what Miele, AEG and Co.

Washing machine manufacturers are trying to impress with innovations such as smartphone control via app or loading during operation. However, the washing machines are not necessarily really good, durable, water-saving, quiet and energy-efficient.

This is also shown by the annual results of the Stiftung Warentest: 13 new models were tested, including some identical devices. The overall rating is “good” seven times, the test winner gets a grade of 1.6. As in previous years, there is no “very good” device this time either. Four models still achieve the rating “satisfactory”, two washing machines have to be content with “sufficient”.

The experts mainly evaluated the washing process and handling. Points are deducted, for example, for a lack of protection against water damage, for high operating volume, excessive water and electricity consumption.

Note: In the test (issue 11/2021), a Bosch device that is structurally identical to the Siemens WU14UT40 took first place and was in the upper middle field with around 620. Our price tip from AEG starts at 440 euros.
