watch out for bank scams!

An American cybersecurity start-up unveils a classic phishing technique used by hackers to steal bank details.

Fraudsters proliferate as always on the Internet but they are currently taking advantage of Netflix to commit their crimes. It was Armorblox cybersecurity researchers who spotted and denounced a bank scam on Tuesday, July 28, information relayed by Tom’s Guide.

How do they do it? It’s very simple. The process involves sending an email to Netflix users pretending to be technical support. A message thus leads to believe that their personal data could not be verified, which leads to billing problems. The hackers then indicate that the user's account will be closed within 24 hours if the personal data is not updated via a link sent. To conclude the scam, "When targets click on the link, they are taken to a full-fledged Netflix-like website," says Chetan Anand, Armorblox co-founder.

Thanks (unfortunately) to the credit card details given, hackers were able to recover the bank details of many users who did not see the shadow of a scam.

It is therefore good to remember that we must be extra vigilant towards this type of email and (always) check the address that is used to correspond with you. If the address does not start with https://www.netflix.com/, there is a problem.
