Compotes for children sold throughout France have been recalled for a risk of the presence of patulin, toxic to humans.

If you have bought Leader Price private label compotes in the past few days, do not eat them! A batch of these compotes “Gourd’o fruit” packaged in 12 pouches of 90g each without added sugar is affected by a nationwide product recall. The water bottles concerned are in the following flavours: apple, apple-raspberry, apple-peach, apple-strawberry-banana. The reason: patulin detection, resulting from moldy apples, in excessive quantities in products. This can be toxic to humans. The compotes concerned were sold between 17 and 26 November 2022 in Leader Price stores and these distribution networks: Casino, Vival, Spar and the Casino distribution networks.

If you want to make sure that your purchase is not part of the incriminated products, you can refer to the expiry date of the products: MDD: 11/15/23. What if you bought a tray from this lot? First, do not eat them. You have until Sunday, December 11, 2022 to return them to the point of sale where you purchased them. You will then be reimbursed for the amount paid for the product as compensation. A telephone number has been set up if you have any additional questions about this product recall: 08 00 35 00 00.

What to do if you have consumed a recalled compote?

Patulin may pose risks when ingested. It is a mycotoxin known to cause gastrointestinal disorders with ulcerations, distentions and haemorrhages. Even disturbances of renal function at high doses. It has been detected as a contaminant in many fruits, vegetables and cereals, but the main sources of contamination are apples and apple derivatives. If you have consumed these compotes and you notice fever, symptoms of diarrhea, vomiting or abdominal cramps, remember to contact your doctor as soon as possible.
