Several camemberts from the Réo cheese dairy have been recalled. According to the Rappel Conso site, they were contaminated with listeria, a bacterium responsible for listeriosis, which can be serious for some people.
Beware if you have recently purchased a cheese from the Réo factory. The website Drink reminder, which regularly alerts on product recalls, indicated that several camemberts from this Normandy-based cheese dairy were contaminated with listeria. This recall concerns lot 23R135the expiry date of which is set at August 4, 2023. Here is the list of affected cheeses:
- “Camembert de Normandie 250 g, Large cheese 1 kg, Small Camembert 150 g” from Réo.
- “Camembert de Normandie AOP 250 g” from the Val d’Ay brand.
- “Camembert de Normandie AOP 250 g” from TH REAUX.
- “Camembert de Normandie 250 g, Large cheese 1 kg, Cheese 800 g, Small Camembert 150 g” from the Gaslonde brand.
All these cheeses are kept in wooden boxes covered with paper. The Conso Reminder website recommends consumers not to eat them, or even throw them away. It is also possible to return them to the store for a refund. The site specifies that these camemberts were marketed in Leclerc and Intermarché stores, and by wholesalers and creamers. in the whole of France between June 9 and June 30, 2023.

Listeriosis can be serious
Listeria, which contaminated these cheeses, causes listeriosis, “a disease that can be serious and whose incubation period can be up to eight weeks”. Reminder Conso calls consumers alertness to certain symptoms : “fever, isolated or accompanied by headaches, and body aches”. Affected people “are invited to consult their doctor by notifying him of this consumption”. Pregnant women may be particularly affected, as “severe forms with neurological complications and maternal or fetal damage may occur”. Immunocompromised people and the elderly also need to be careful.
