Watchmen: for Patrick Wilson, the feature film by Zack Snyder paved the way for the Avengers films

Back in time for Patrick Wilson who remembers “Watchmen” and praises Zack Snyder for his avant-garde creation.

It was during an interview with ReelBlend (via Deadline) that Patrick Wilson discussed his experience of Watchmen – The Guardians, Zack Snyder’s 2009 superhero film based on DC Comics characters.

Watchmen is the only movie of mine that I’ve watched from cover to cover since a preview – this movie is awesome. […] I just wanted to see him as an older guy, as a filmmaker. I knew Zack was ahead of the curve. It’s weird to say that the public wasn’t ready for that. But you need a movie like that. You need the movies to get so dark for the Avengers to get so light. I believe in that.

The actor also said he would “love to do this movie now” and that it would be “so awesome” to get back into the world of watch men.

Check out his interview in VO below:

Besides Patrick Wilson as Nite Owl, the film also starred Malin Åkerman, Billy Crudup, Matthew Goode, Carla Gugino, Jackie Earle Haley and Jeffrey Dean Morgan.

In 2019, Watchmen returned as a limited series for HBO, from Damon Lindelof. The nine-episode show starred Regina King, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Tom Mison, Sara Vickers, Tim Blake Nelson, Jeremy Irons and Don Johnson – to name but a few. Nite Owl, the character that Patrick Wilson starred in the 2009 film, was not included in the television series adaptation.

Watchmen – Les Gardiens is to be streamed again on Netflix and Paramount+.
