Waven announces a new class variant, the Iop Astramantis

Unveiled during the December 6 Live dedicated to the future of Waven, the Astramantis iop is soon coming into play. It will be the only new class in this update and offers mechanics linked to the island of Albuera.

Among the many new features announced for Waven, a new subclass will be available for the Iop. His gameplay relies on his spears, which he can summon onto the field and use to inflict damage. Specifically, the spells that summon the spears are the bonus spells available in Albuera’s chests, giving him a unique advantage over other classes.

However, you will have to wait for the release of the next update, announced around December 19, to find out more. It will also be reserved for the season for owners of the Platinum battle pass (the most expensive). You will therefore have to be extra patient to access it for free at the end of the season.

Iop Astramantis spells and passives

We already know a large part of the Iop Astramantis spells on Waven. Indeed, his basic passive adds the spell “Bond Mantis” to the hand whenever he attacks an opponent. This spell allows him to teleport in close combat and inflict damage on any enemy.

Here is the list of all his heroic skills:

  • Astramantis power: When you consume gauges, +5% to spell damage and +5% to character attack for each gauge consumed.
  • Astramantis Rally: When you summon a companion, deal 100% of the companion’s attack around your spears and your hero.
  • Echo Astramantis: When you cast a spell, deal X damage (based on elemental magic) to opponents around your spears and your hero per action point spent.
  • Elan Astramantis: Your “Bond Mantis” spells are replaced by “Elan Astra” spells.

Digging into more detail, we can also see its 4 unique spells reserved for the class:

  • Sequence: Deal the hero’s attack and draw the next spear spell.
  • Summon the Lancer: Inflicts the hero’s attack, grants resummonable to a random companion if he is in “ascension 8” state, up to 2 companions resumable in “ascension 15”.
  • Astramantis Obedience: Inflicts 50% of the attack of the hero located between one of the spears, then triggers its effect. Returns the corresponding spear spell to hand.
  • Spear Mastery: Swaps places with a spear and deals 50% of its attack to adjacent opponents. If aligned with the target spear, triggers its effect.

Enjoyable gameplay that feels powerful

To conclude, the Iop Astramantis is a good surprise that easily stands out from other Iop variants. His spells will still be complex to obtain at maximum level with the low accessibility to Albuera chests.

Even if it certainly makes you want to be played, we can only deplore its early access in the battle pass. A decision which moves further and further away from the promise of cosmetic payment onlyoriginally made for Waven.
