Waze charts your course to nostalgic tunes

2

BRIEF // The Waze application has brightened up its interface by drawing inspiration from iconography from the 70s, 80s and 90s. On the menu, new avatars, new voices for guidance and a soundtrack offering disco or more new wave.

Waze, the community guide application is no exception to the Vintage fashion in vogue at the moment. By playing on an iconography specific to the 70s, 80s and 90s, the application offers in the My Waze tab a package “Drive with the 80s“. It is also possible to dive into the universe of the following and previous decades.

Depending on the years chosen, you can opt for a choice of avatars: “Style“, “Overmotivated” Where “Modern“. These are displayed respectively in the form of a lava lamp symbolizing the “Peace & Love” of the 70s, a Boombox or an XXL radio cassette player for the 70s and a PC, first style Macintosh, for the 90s.

Each of these avatars can be associated with a guide voice such as “70’s DJ“, “80’s gym teacher” Where “90’s pop stars“.

Other avatars offered, the choice of vehicle with the iconic “Flower Power” van, the racing car vaguely resembling a Ferrari from the 80s and finally the SUV or “SUV4EVA” for the 90s whose silhouette is reminiscent of a convertible Jeep. Moreover, at that time, we spoke more readily of 4×4 than of SUV since the term had not yet been invented.

Finally, to complete this nostalgia sequence, Waze has teamed up with Tuneln, the audio streaming service. You will be able to immerse yourself completely in the sound of the 70s, 80s and 90s via a choice of English, American and Canadian radio stations.

Once again, Waze continues to grow. It will be recalled that the application recently offers the voice assistant Google Assistant, audio books and podcasts from the Audible application, as well as the possibility of listening to Spotify, Deezer or YouTube Music directly from the application.
