Did you know ? The Quick restaurant chain was founded in 1970 in Belgium, to compete with other famous fast food restaurants such as McDonald’s, Burger King or KFC. Ten years later, in 1980, the Quick chain arrived in France, to the delight of fast food fans.

Quick: look back at the closure of the famous fast food chain

If Quick establishments have long been prosperous, it was suddenly announced in August 2021 that all restaurants were going to close. The French group Bertrand, which bought Quick in 2015, decided on that date to sell the brand to the HIG Capital group… and the decision to transform all Quicks into “Burger King”, a competing fast food chain, was then taken.

Nevertheless, certain franchised Quick restaurants have managed to escape the famous permanent closure. There is today 135 establishments present in France, including 90% franchisees and 10% branches that have not been transformed into Burger King. Against all odds, in 2023, Quick saw its turnover increase by 20% to reach nearly 415 million euros over one year. Enough to convince the owners to give the chain another chance.

Quick: the fast food chain soon to return

This Friday, May 3, 2024, we learn that Quick’s return to France becomes official. According to the site actu.fr, the German brand will return with around thirty restaurants which will open in the south-east, west, north and east of France in Rennesand in the Paris region, notably soon in Boulogne-Billancourt.

We also learn that there are more than 300 restaurants that could be open by 2028, or 165 restaurants in four years. News which delights fans of the brand but which will also have a positive impact on unemployment figures since it will lead to the creation of 1,500 local jobs each year.

Return of Quick: a new strategy to attract consumers

To offer itself a completely new image, the Quick brand first focused on a major ambassador in the person of Tony Parker. The famous basketball player once again becomes the face of the restaurant chain in 2024, having been there more than ten years ago. While McDonald’s, KFC and Burger King have established themselves and while a whole new competition has set up in the country with the arrival of Popeye’s, Five Guys and even G La Dalle, Quick has also had to review its menu.
