“We could have done better”: Chris Evans regrets this spy film which was dismantled by critics

In a river interview given to GQ during which he returns in particular to his time at Marvel, Chris Evans criticizes several films from his career. Including Ghosted, a spy comedy released last April on AppleTV+.

Despite the excellent start of Ghosted on the platform, critics were not at all enthusiastic about this comedy in which Chris Evans falls under the spell of a spy played by Ana De Armas. On Rotten Tomatoes, it doesn’t exceed 5/10. On AlloCiné, Internet users were not kind either, with an average rating of 2.6/5.

If the cast of Ghosted – as well as its brilliant cameos – attracted subscribers at first glance, the direction of Dexter Fletcher (Rocketman) as well as the “worthy of a nanar” scenario did not convince at all:

Ghosted is the kind of movie I grew up with. The kind we see less and less of. The question was rather whether the public was still receptive to it. I thought that was the case – and I still think so. Moreover, the viewing figures are rather correct. People want this kind of film, when it’s well done. We could have done better“, defended Chris Evans.

The former interpreter of Captain America, who returned to his native Massachusetts to get away from a Hollywood that he considers too toxic, has spent his last months producing for streaming platforms. On the Netflix side, he starred in The Gray Man opposite Ryan Gosling, quickly appeared in Don’t Look Up alongside Dicaprio and Meryl Streep, and will soon be starring in Merchants of Pain with Emily Blunt. We will find him very soon in Red One on the Prime Video side with Dwayne Johnson.
