“We dread summer”: a famous lawyer skids over the outfit of a member of the Assembly

Honorary president of the Licra, the famous lawyer Alain Jakubowicz has drawn the wrath of Internet users on Twitter after posting a message deemed misogynistic, concerning the dress of a member of La France Insoumise.

The tweet published by Maître Alain Jakubowicz on Sunday February 19, 2023 did not go unnoticed by Internet users. Indeed, the famous lawyer, who is also honorary president of the Licra (International League against Racism and Anti-Semitism, editor’s note), posted a message deemed misogynistic. In fact, Alain Jakubowicz posted a photo of Ersilia Soudais, MP for La France Insoumise elected in the 7th constituency of Seine-et-Marne, while she was speaking at the microphone in the hemicycle of the National Assembly. “MP winter outfit. We dread summer…“, he wrote, in reference to the attire of the member.

Unsurprisingly, this message was perceived as a slip-up on the part of the famous lawyer, which earned him a lot of negative reactions on social networks. “Delete!“, for example, wrote EELV deputy Sandrine Rousseau. “Delete your tweet. Attacking a politician on the basis of her dress is the most classic form of discrimination. That caused by machismo. Don’t you see it?“, indicated for her part the deputy LFI Raquel Garrido. Even the Licra was disunited with the words of its honorary president. The Licra fights against racism, anti-Semitism and discrimination. It categorically condemns misogynistic and sexist attacks which attack the dignity of the human person as much as they disqualify their authors and debase public speech.“, she wrote on Twitter.

Alain Jakubowicz: “Respect is earned”

Subsequently, Alain Jakubowicz responded to Raquel Garrido. “The way your friends (you see I please you) dress and behave in the Assembly is unworthy of the place where you sit and the French people you are supposed to represent. Don’t you see it?“, he wrote. “The little mockery about inclusive writing… You sign your wrongdoing. Who is an MP? It’s her, not you. You might say you owe her some respect, but I hate posture lessons. On the other hand, I do not forgive misogyny, which I easily spot“, replied the companion of Alexis Corbière. “1- For the misdeed I plead guilty 2- Respect is earned 3- Regarding maintenance lessons: Joker 4- If misogyny is measured by the outfit of this deputy in the hemicycle, I fear that you have a lot of people to forgive and not just men…“, finally concluded the lawyer.
