“We had to die together”, “bare a gun to the temple” … Adeline Blondieau and Pascal Obispo tell the dark side of Johnny

In the documentary series “Johnny by Johnny” put online this Tuesday, March 29, 2022 on Netflix, relatives of the singer who died in 2017 talk about their memories with him, moments not always happy because of his addiction to alcohol, as witness his former wife Adeline Blondieau and his friend Pascal Obispo.

“I saw him drink,” recalls the latter. The “Fall for Her” singer says he thought it was “funny” at first, but when he realizes his friend has no limit to his frenetic consumption, he understands that the situation can quickly become dangerous. . “At some point, if he takes a second bottle, it becomes aggressive,” he recalls in one of the five episodes of the Netflix series.

One day in particular still sends shivers down his spine today: “I saw him drunk, I saw him naked in his garden with a gun to his temple. I saw him in front of me, crying,” says Pascal Obispo. The one who notably wrote “Lighting the fire” also remembers having had a nice scare in the car. “One day, we were both in the car. He was a bit… [ivre] And while we were driving, he put his foot on the other side to press the pedal so that I could go faster, saying to myself: ‘I’m crazier than the others’. (…) I told him: ‘You are crazy but I want to stay alive so you take your foot off’”, says Pascal Obispo.

A destructive marriage

This tendency to play with death made his ex-wife Adeline Blondieau, now 51 years old, suffer a lot and who also testifies in the documentary series. “Once we found each other as husband and wife, I had to accept a lot more than I thought. I lost a big, big part of my freedom. My job was Johnny, “says the one who was married to the rocker from 1990 to 1992, then from 1994 to 1995.

“I found myself drinking too to understand the other,” reveals the one who was only 18 when Johnny married her. “When things were going badly, we had to die. But we had to die together. I threw myself out of the window once and he caught me by the hair; him, he threw himself back from a staircase and I held him by the boots … It was drama very, very often, ”she says. “When he looked at me, he said to me: ‘But you are everything, I have known you for so long. You are my wife, you are my friend, you are my daughter. If there’s anyone who can save me, it’s you,’” the “Under the Sun” actress also recalls.

Finally, Adeline Blondieau will leave Johnny, exhausted by the crises of the singer: “By force, it exhausted me because I had the impression of fighting against a demon which is inside him, and I was tiny in front of him. So I left: there, I couldn’t take it anymore, I was on the ground, ”said the one who in 2015 had accused the rocker of having raped her in her adolescence.
