Very recently, BMW deployed a new update for vehicles with iDrive 7 and iDrive 8. In total, just under 5 million vehicles are affected by this free update, to be downloaded directly in OTA from the vehicle… provided, however, that the latter is parked on a flat environment.
Indeed, a BMW i4 owner was recently confronted with an alert that was surprising to say the least when updating her vehicle. The vehicle detected that the latter was parked on a slope. too steep to be able to install it.

The manufacturer has also indicated other prerequisites allowing a system update to be carried out serenely. Thus, in addition to not being parked on a slope, the vehicle must in particular have a sufficient level of charge, be in the “parking” position, but also be stationary (engine off).
