The name of the interpreter of the Silver Surfer in the new version of the film “Fantastic Four” has been revealed. The family of superheroes will thus find the extraterrestrial 18 years after “Fantastic 4 and the Silver Surfer” by Tim Story.
After several months of waiting, the casting of Matt Shakman’s Fantastic Four was revealed last February.
We thus learned that Pedro Pascal would play Reed Richards, the leader of the Fantastic Four team, Vanessa Kirby would play Sue Storm, the invisible woman, Joseph Quinn, revealed in season 4 of Stranger Things, would play Johnny Storm aka The Human Torch, while Ebon Moss-Bachrach, seen in Andor and The Bear, would be Ben Grimm (The Thing).
Who to play the Silver Surfer?
The American site Deadline tells us today that the actress Julia Garner, already seen in the series The Americans, Dirty John, Ozark (for which she won 3 Emmy Awards and the Golden Globe for best supporting actress) and Maniac, as well as the shock film The Assistant, freely inspired by the Weinstein affair, could embody Shalla-Bal, one of the versions of the Silver Surfer.
A role already played by Doug Jones in Fantastic Four and the Silver Surfer in 2007. We thus learn that the superhero family will once again face the silver extra-terrestrial.
The 30-year-old actress was also chosen to play Madonna in the biopic dedicated to the singer before the feature film was finally canceled. She will be showing from January 15, 2025 in The Wolfman by Leigh Whannell, a new version of the 1941 Werewolf.

A film set in the 60s
The plot of the Marvel film will be set in the 60s. It is the fourth adaptation of the comic created in 1961 by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. However, Fantastic Four should not be a repeat of previous ones if we are to believe Kevin Feige who announced at Hollywood Reporter in August 2022:
“A lot of people already know the origins of Fantastic Four. A lot of fans know the basics. The idea is to figure out how to use those elements to make something that audiences have never seen before. We put the very high bar to bring all this to the screen.”
Fantastic Four new version will be released in our cinemas on July 23, 2025.
