- In 2022, Swiss companies exported war material worth CHF 955 million.
- That is 212.2 million, around 29 percent more than in the previous year.
- Most of the armaments went to Qatar, Denmark, Germany, Saudi Arabia and the USA.
According to the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (Seco), it accounts for 0.25 percent of all goods exported by the Swiss economy.
According to Seco, around 56 percent of the war material exported was destined for the 25 countries that belong to all four international export control regimes for the control of strategically sensitive goods. This is around 9 percent less than in 2021.
More permits for special goods
The main exports were armored vehicles (26.5 percent), ammunition and ammunition components (24.8 percent), weapons of all calibers (24.8 percent) and fire control systems (16.8 percent). Small arms and combat aircraft components each accounted for five percent.
Seco issued more permits for special military goods than in the previous year. These include, among other things, protection systems against torpedoes and drones, mine clearance equipment and protective equipment. The total value of these individual approvals was 69 million francs in 2022 compared to 58 million in the previous year, as Seco continues to write.
