Weather: Hérault and Aude on orange vigilance rain and floods

I’Aude and the Hérault will spend the weekend under water. As of Friday March 11, Météo-France placed the two departments on orange vigilance “rain and floods”, due to “strong accumulations” of precipitation expected from this Saturday morning, March 12. In its bulletin, Météo-France evokes “a Mediterranean episode, atypical for the season”, which will take place “gradually and will last until Monday”.

On the Hérault, “it will rain all day” on Saturday, causing “significant accumulations in 24 hours, of the order of 100 to 150 mm generalized on the relief of the hinterland, with peaks around 200 mm”. These “strong accumulations” could “extend towards the east of the Aude, the Narbonnais, and the coast of the Pyrénées-Orientales”.

“On the Hérault, no significant improvement is expected before Monday. Thus, over a period of three days, accumulations of the order of 300 to 400 mm are expected in Haut-Languedoc and the south of the Cévennes”, continues Météo-France. “This episode does not reach the levels of intensity that we can experience in the fall”, but “we must be attentive” by keeping ourselves regularly informed, specifies the bulletin.

And for the rest of the country?

On the relief, snowfall will occur from 900 to 1,000 m, especially in the south of the Massif Central. The east to southeast wind, still quite strong, will blow in gusts of 70 to 90 km/h from the Mediterranean coast to the south of the Massif Central. Over the rest of Occitania up to Limousin, Auvergne, Berry and Burgundy, it will rain mainly in the morning, with a rain-snow limit around 1,000 to 1,200 m. From the west of Midi-Pyrénées to Limousin, the improvement will be clearer with the return of fine clearings.

Conversely, from Paca to the Belgian border, the sky will remain very cloudy. On the other hand, Lorraine, Alsace and the Jura will keep a sunnier weather. To the west, from Normandy and the Pays de la Loire to Aquitaine, the day promises to be quite beautiful. But in Brittany, after a sunny morning, the weather will cloud over and become rainy in the afternoon. This new Atlantic degradation is associated with a gale in the west of the region, with gusts around 100 km / h on the tip of Finistère.

Minimum temperatures will be between 3 and 8 degrees inland, locally 1 to 3 in Alsace and 8 to 10 on the Mediterranean coast. During the day, temperatures will show 9 to 15 degrees in general, up to 16 to 18 degrees in Aquitaine.
