Weather in Tyrol – A foehn storm follows rain – snow on the mountains

How will the weather in Tyrol be in the coming days? The beginning of the week is mostly characterized by a strong foehn and mild temperatures. From the middle of the week, a cold front will bring rain and snow at higher altitudes.

Fantastic weather for excursions prevailed on Sunday in Tyrol. but how does it continue? In North Tyrol, a strong foehn blows on Monday morning – especially in the typical foehn regions it will be stormy. The wind is expected to drop significantly as early as the afternoon. “So it stays dry away from the main ridge and quite sunny with loose to little cloud cover,” says the Central Institute for Meteorology and Geodynamics (ZAMG). On the main ridge of the Alps and in East Tyrol, compact clouds would accumulate for the time being, from which it is mainly near the main ridge still raining lightly in the morning and snowing above 1500 meters. In the course of the afternoon, however, the clouds will also gradually loosen up in the south, according to the ZAMG experts.First precipitation on Tuesday eveningOn Tuesday it will still be föhn in North Tyrol. Layer clouds, which reach the lowlands and East Tyrol around noon at the latest, make for cloudier conditions. But it should stay dry during the day. “Only in the evening does it become cloudy on the main ridge and here there is light precipitation, the snow line is then around 2000 meters according to ZAMG. Wednesday is also supposed to start rainy. In North Tyrol it will probably snow above about 1500 meters, in East Tyrol from about 1800 meters. From midday, the precipitation from the west will gradually subside – here and there, most likely in the Oberland, there will be one or two hours of sunshine. “It stays cooler at all altitudes than last time. Lows: 2 to 6 degrees, highs: 5 to 10 degrees,” according to the ZAMG. The further weather trend in Tyrol After a mostly slightly cloudy, in places foggy, cloudy Thursday morning, the next cloud cover of a warm front is moving in from the west. Especially north of the Inn Valley it can rain a bit, the snow line is just over 2000 meters. It will remain dry and probably a bit sunnier in East Tyrol. From the current perspective, Friday will be overcast and rainy, at least in the morning.
