The weather service GeoSphere Austria announces partly strong thunderstorms with heavy rain and squalls for late Saturday afternoon. The whole of Upper Austria is affected, wind peaks of up to 100 km/h are possible, sometimes even more. Trees could snap and roof tiles could fly around.
“At the front of a cold front, violent thunderstorms can develop in the unstable and humid air,” warns Alexander Ohms from GeoSphere Austria. The weather experts expect that the storm front will spread to Upper Austria from around 5 p.m. from the west. In addition to thunder and lightning, heavy rain and storms could be particularly dangerous, as wind peaks of 70 to 100 km/h are expected could. During storms, you should refrain from unnecessary car trips, stay indoors and secure outdoor movable objects in good time.
