Weeds: Is this film based on a true story?

Released in cinemas in 2017, the movie called Weedsworn by Kheiron, Catherine Deneuve and André Dussollier, will be broadcast on Sunday, June 26, 2022, from 9:05 p.m. on W9. Using his creativity and his sense of contact, Waël will succeed in coaxing the young people and in discovering for each the secret of their existential problem.. For this, he draws on his dramatic story of an orphan from a country at war, survivor of a massacre, street child, falsely blind beggar, then taken in by a religious community. Recurring flashbacks make the connection in the film between these two eras. If Kheiron had been inspired by the story of his own parents for his first film baptized The three of us or nothingreleased in theaters two years earlier, the director could also have indicated “Inspired by a True Story” in the credits of Weeds.

However, the comedian has given free rein to his imagination for this 2nd feature film, that he said to himself that he did not deserve this stamp. “I mainly started from a material that I know. The six children in the film are genuine cases, either that I observed as an educator, or that my colleagues told me about, or that happened to people I know when they were teenagers“, explained Kheiron. “I especially wanted to address themes that are close to my heart, such as, for example, redemption, communication or the chance to welcome in France people who come from afar and who enrich our culture“, also specified the scenario writer.
