Weight, sensors, storage, accessories… all the latest information on the Vision Pro

The Vision Pro received a lot of attention last week. After a series of articles in the American press, Apple’s mixed reality headset was revealed in more detail when pre-orders opened last Friday.

To begin with, the weight is finally known: 600 g with the single strap (Solo Knit Band) and 650 g with the double strap system (Dual Loop Band). Added to this is the external battery (353 g), which makes a maximum weight of 1 kg.

In terms of configuration, nothing new, with an M2 chip in version 8 CPU cores and 10 GPU cores + R1 chip. Apple, however, provides more information on the memory side, with RAM rising to 16 GB and three storage options: 256 GB (for $3,499), 512 GB ($3,699) and 1 TB ($3,899).

We learn in passing the price of AppleCare insurance: $499 for two years of protection or $24.99 per month. Thanks to the latter, a deductible of only… $299 will be requested for the repair of the helmet or $29 for accessories. Without AppleCare, the price of a Vision repair starts at $799 for the external Oled screen and goes up to $2,399 for any other damage.

In addition, the prices of the various Vision Pro accessories have also been revealed:

  • Zeiss optical inserts: starting at $99;
  • External battery: $199;
  • Belkin Battery Holder: $49.95;
  • Travel box: $199;
  • Mask: $199;
  • Mask cushion: $29;
  • Solo Knit Band Strap: $99;
  • Dual Loop Band: $99.

In addition to a refresh rate oscillating between 90, 96 and 100 Hz, presumably to limit the effects of motion sickness, Apple’s mixed reality headset is HDR10, Dolby Vision and HLG compatible. It can also stream its main screen to other devices in 720p using AirPlay.

In addition, the Vision Pro has the following army of sensors:

  • Two high-resolution main cameras;
  • Six cameras for hand and body tracking;
  • Four eye tracking cameras;
  • A TrueDepth camera;
  • A lidar;
  • Four inertia sensors;
  • A flicker sensor;
  • A light sensor.

On the connectivity side, Apple emphasizes that the Vision Pro benefits from wifi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3, but also from a privileged connection (H2-to-H2) to the AirPods Pro 2 with USB-C box. As a reminder, the latter allows you to benefit from reduced latency and especially Lossless audio.
