For the anecdote, the production team was the victim of a terrible misadventure during a reconnaissance trip in the Amazonian jungle. Peter Berg, along with producers Kevin Misher, Ric Kidney and Tom Duffield, were attacked by gunmen. The latter stole money from them, as well as camera equipment. The filmmaker and the producers finally emerged physically unscathed from this ordeal, but shortened their stay in this wilderness, returning to the United States earlier than planned.
