Well-known water brand Vittel disappears from shelves

Nestlé criticized for water production

As “LZ” further reports, Vittel has been weakening on the German market for a long time, which is apparently also due to Nestlé’s water business itself. The food giant has been criticized for years for obtaining the water. Nestlé has been selling water from wells in the small French town of Vittel since the early 1990s. As a result, the groundwater level drops by about 30 centimeters every year.

And Nestlé doesn’t even deny it. Ronan LeFanic, manager of the local Nestlé factory, said: “We are pumping out more water than can naturally regenerate, which has caused the water table to fall steadily every year for the past thirty years.” Environmentalists have sharply criticized Nestlé’s actions. As the company’s spokesman explained to “LZ”, these discussions were not related to the step to take Vittel from the German market.
