Camille Lacourt is twice the father: of a little Marius, whom he had with Alice Detollanaere, his current companion. He also has a little girl, born from his previous union with the former Miss France Valérie Bègue. The Olympic champion recently granted a sensitive and sincere interview with Kool Mag media, dedicated to fathers and men. He mentioned in particular a difficult period of his life: the break with Valérie Bègue. “The separation with the mother of my daughter was very violent for me”said the swimmer. “There was a month where I think I hit depression. My mates were coming…I was drinking beer after beer for three or four days. I really needed to drink beers to sleep at night, to do not speak”he explains.
“My friends were waiting for it to pass… And then I said to myself that I had to stop. Otherwise we won’t get out of it!”, says the champion. He delivers a touching analysis of the difficulties that men sometimes have in confiding their weaknesses: “We are not just good men, we are human beings and we have the right to be weak”he recalls with a smile.
