Tesla may well have leaked the first images of a highly anticipated model.

Which ? Come on, don’t pretend! We are obviously talking about the compact model. This would make Tesla’s technology available to a much wider audience by cutting prices.

An intentional leak?

Tesla is living through very intense weeks. The world number 1 in electric vehicles has just inaugurated its new technical center in Palo Alto, California. This event benefited from a certain communication campaign, with in particular the posting of a video presentation of this new site. So far, nothing out of the ordinary. Except that many Internet users have been able to observe a very interesting furtive image, which you can see at 11.38.

So, have you seen it? A table full of sketches of cars appears at this moment, including one, in the center, in silver color, which looks furiously like a compact model close to a drawing published last summer. Tesla had at that time presented an image while working on a small electric car model for China. Inexpensive entry-level products are already available in this market.

A $25,000 car?

When we say inexpensive, we are talking about vehicles that can be accessed for $25,000. Elon Musk had already given this award on Battery Day in 2020, when he mentioned Tesla’s upcoming achievement of an entry-level car. But to reach this price level, the American giant must first significantly reduce the production costs of electric batteries, by more than 50%.

So, is this a fortuitous appearance? Or did Tesla want to start teasing a model that should allow it to conquer markets where it is absolutely not present at the moment? We can hope that this hypothesis is correct, especially since Investor Day is fast approaching, and that the manufacturer should present a platform for new generation vehicles there. For the moment, the cheapest model is the Model 3, available from 44,990 euros in France.
