For the first time, the orientation and programming bill (LOPMI) of the Ministry of the Interior must be presented to the Council of Ministers on Wednesday. A revised text, comprising 15 articles, which will make it possible to reinforce the staff of the police and to fix the budgetary calendar over several years.
Like Defence, the Ministry of the Interior wants a security programming law. For the first time, the orientation and programming bill (LOPMI) must be presented to the Council of Ministers on Wednesday. It is a revised text since originally it included 32 articles during its first version presented in mid-March. In the end, there will only be 15, but the budget promise will be kept.
15 billion additional euros
A major effort of an additional 15 billion euros will be made over five years. Half of these credits will be allocated to the digital transformation of the Ministry of the Interior. It is a question here of adapting to the delinquency which has invested the field of cyber.
This budget should also make it possible to create eleven new units of mobile forces, the distribution of which has, according to information from Europe 1, been recorded: seven for the mobile gendarmes, four for the CRS, i.e. just over 1,200 police and gendarmes law enforcement specialists.
Public security should also be strengthened with 200 new gendarmerie brigades created from next January.
Emmanuel Macron wants to double the police presence on the public highway within five years. Another major challenge is the investigation sector, where the number of investigators will also be doubled in an attempt to better fight petty and medium crime. Because, according to information from Europe 1, the rate of elucidation of investigations into violence against people is down. He lost five points in the police zone, going from 58 to 53% in less than three years only.
