A journalist from France Inter questioned Marion Maréchal, head of the Reconquest list for the European elections, this Tuesday morning about the differences between the defense of the family that she proposes and that defended by Marshal Pétain. Which did not fail to outrage the candidate and her supporters.

Head of the Reconquest list for the European elections, Marion Maréchal was the guest of France Inter this Tuesday morning. Sitting in the public radio studio, the candidate was close to falling out of her chair after this question from the journalist: “What difference is there between the defense of the family that you are proposing and that proposed by Marshal Pétain?”

“What is this question?” Marion Maréchal retorts. This question followed the position taken by the head of the Reconquête list, which accused the Cannes Festival of having given the female actress prize to a man. In question, the prize awarded to transgender actress Karla Sofia Gascon.

A relaunched campaign?

“It’s nonsense. Excuse me, but yes, children are always made by men and women. I’m sorry, it’s perhaps fascist for you,” continues Marion Maréchal, still on France Inter. The journalist’s response: “When we listen to Marshal Pétain, the French family is the basic unit of France.” And the Reconquest candidate replied once again: “I think Hitler liked strawberry jam. You like strawberry jam? You’re a bit of a Hitlerite, aren’t you?”

A sequence denounced on social networks by the supporters of the candidate, whose campaign could paradoxically be relaunched after this clash. Éric Zemmour also relayed this passage to put forward one of his proposals, namely the privatization of public broadcasting.
