What loans to finance your energy renovation work?

THE MORNING LIST

Installing a heat pump, replacing your windows or insulating the attic: embarking on the energy renovation of your home is often an obstacle course, both from a financial and practical point of view. Many systems allow individuals to be supported in their efforts, but it is not always easy to navigate among the assistance. On the financing side, some owners benefit from MaPrimRénov’ public aid (its terms and conditions are about to be modified again), or other schemes.

The zero-rate eco-loan, or eco-PTZ

Beyond this aid, the good reflex is to use the zero-rate eco-loan (eco-PTZ), which is not subject to income conditions. It can finance a wide range of workin the main residence only, within the limit of a loan of 30,000 euros on a package of work, or 50,000 euros for a complete renovation.

“The work must be carried out by a craftsman with the Recognized Guarantor of the Environment (RGE) label and, since 1er January, an overall renovation project must be validated by a support person from the France Renov public service.declares Fabienne Amblard-Larolphie, director of the individual market at Caisse d’épargne, a bank which granted 13,500 eco-PTZs in 2023.

What if eco-PTZ is not enough to cover the overall bill? You can ask your bank for a work loan, the rest being your responsibility. Most establishments have set up consumer loan offers specially designed to finance energy renovation, at rates between 3.50% and 4%, for amounts of up to 50,000 euros, or even 75 000 euros.

Renovation advance loan

They are often very flexible: both owners and tenants are eligible, for their primary or secondary residence. “The subscription process is simpler than for an eco-PTZ, the customer can even finance work that would not be eligible for the regulated loan, for example single-glazed windows »specifies Mme Amblard-Larolphie.

Another avenue to explore: BNP Paribas has just signed a partnership with EDF to support its customers in their energy renovation. All agencies in the network will offer the IZI by EDF platform by the end of the year, which allows work to be estimated and then carried out, and financed.

“Financial aid to which the client is eligible, such as MaPrimRénov’, will be deducted from the estimate, only the balance is subject to a loan at an advantageous rate ranging from 0% to 2.82% depending on the project”, explains Nicolas Draux, director of personal clients at BNP Paribas France. The loan is granted by Domofinance, a subsidiary of BNP Paribas Personal Finance and EDF specializing in financing energy renovation work. This structure is open to everyone, including non-clients of the bank. It finances, in particular, the work loans offered by EDF to its customers at subsidized rates.
