A parade placed under the sign of the countries of the East

This parade highlighted France’s strategic solidarity with the allies, in particular the European countries bordering Russia and elsewhere, in the context of the war in Ukraine. For the first time, the flags of the European Union and NATO were affixed to the badges of the parade. In addition, the emblems of the nine Member States on the eastern flank marched in front. They were made up of the Baltic countries (Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia), Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Bulgaria and Romania. They will be followed by a hundred soldiers from the reassurance missions, including the Alpine hunters from Annecy, who have just returned from Romania where they were deployed immediately after the invasion of Ukraine by Russia.

However, no head of state from the Eastern countries was present and no tribute to the Ukrainian soldiers took place.

Europe 1 had access to the Griffon, the brand new armored vehicle of the French army

On the occasion of the traditional July 14 parade, the French army unveiled its brand new jewel of technology: the Griffin. A brand new armored vehicle that paraded on the Champs-Elysées this Thursday morning. Europe 1 takes you behind the scenes of this armored behemoth, the first connected device.

Why will you see a drone parade for the first time?

This is a first that took place this Thursday morning on the Champs-Élysées for the July 14 parade. Long reluctant to the idea, for fear of overshadowing its own fighter pilots, the French army will parade a Reaper drone, which will be inserted between the Mirages and the Rafales.

Emmanuel Macron flew with the Patrouille de France

The President of the Republic implied, on the eve of the parade of July 14, to have flown over Paris last Friday with the Patrouille de France.
