What will change in the new series Daredevil Born Again

Series Daredevil: Born Again is expected for the spring of 2024 on Disney +, signing the return of Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio. But can we really consider this as a season 4?

The end of Daredevil on Netflix, after the cancellation in 2018, had left fans hungry. But since Disney recovered the rights to broadcast everything on its own platform, the return of Charlie Cox as the hero left no doubt, between his stealthy appearance in the latest Spider-Man, the statements of Kevin Feige (the “boss” of Marvel on screen) and the return of the Kingpin in Hawkeye.

But it’s now official since the announcements of San Diego Comic-Con, which was held on July 23 and 24, 2022: a new series, called Daredevil: Born Again, will feature Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio. A poster with the official typo has been released.

Two appearances in Echo and she hulk

The reintroduction of the Daredevil character to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is happening in small touches. After Spider-Man No Way HomeCharlie Cox will return to she hulk, starting this summer. Nothing more logical, because under his real identity, Matt Murdock is a lawyer, just like Jessica Gao. Likewise, it will appear in Echothe series derived from Hawkeye where the heroine first appears. Charlie Cox will also voice his character in Spider-Man Freshman Year.

Since these last two appearances are scheduled during the next year, do not expect an arrival of Daredevil before the spring of 2024—Marvel’s announced launch window for streaming.

A record number of episodes for Daredevil: Born Again

The new series with Charlie Cox is a break from the number of episodes usually allocated to Marvel series on SVOD services. Daredevil: Born Again will count 18 episodes, instead of the 10-13 episodes of the Netflix original series. We are also far from the 6 episodes of Loki and of Ms Marvel.

Daredevil: Born Again : really a season 4?

Fans expected a season 4, but Daredevil: Born Again is a brand new series. If we will find with certainty the actors Charlie Cox and Vincent d’Onofrio, it is by no means recorded that this signs the return of the exact same characters. Just take a look at the Caïd’s appearances in Hawkeye : it is not the same, more massive and impressive. His strength is increased tenfold in an almost supernatural way, two thousand leagues from his representation in the Daredevil of Netflix where it is more “realistic”.

Also knowing that the series will take place in the middle of the MCU’s Multiverse Saga (the doors of the multiple universes being open a few films and series already, from Loki at Doctor Strange 2), so it’s to be expected that the events of the old series will ultimately come from a parallel world. It will most likely be a new version of Daredevil.

Difficult, in this context, to determine if the rest of the cast will also be back, in particular Deborah Ann Woll (Karen) and Elden Henson (Foggy).

A new costume for Charlie Cox

Matt Murdock makes a brief appearance in the second trailer for she hulk, at the very end: we see the hero jump from a roof, land himself, before a sequence shot where his iconic “baton”, his arms, his torso appear. We never see his face, but his identity leaves no room for doubt. It is however notable that the costume is not the same as in the Netflix series.

This could confirm that it is not exactly the same character as before.
