What’s driving smartphone users to ditch Android for an iPhone?

According to a study by the analysis firm Consumer Intelligence Research Partners (CIRP), between 10 and 15% of iPhone buyers in recent years previously owned an Android smartphone. In a new report, she attempted to find out why.

More than 53% of people who responded to the CIRP explained that they had migrated to Apple because of a problem with their Android model. ” Their old phone was no longer useful to them, because it was aging, needed to be repaired, or had defects that affected their user experience “says the firm.

The second reason cited is the appeal of the features offered by the iPhone, in particular ” a better camera, better accessory options or a more intuitive user interface “. Ultimately, only 6% of respondents said they made this choice because of iMessage or FaceTime.

The reliability of the iPhone and the network of Apple Stores that can easily repair or replace the phone if needed surpasses anything Samsung or Google offer for hardware support commented a user who decided to give up a Pixel smartphone for one from Apple. Note that this study was carried out in the United States, where the smartphone market is not the same as in Europe.

Tim Cook welcomes this trend

The price is often cited as a barrier to the acquisition of a new smartphone. 15% of respondents turned to Apple realizing they would spend less than expected on a comparable Android, including through discounts.
