Tom Davidson from the security company Lookout has now revealed three signs that indicate that you have received a fraudulent message to the British newspaper The Sun:

1. Be wary of receiving a message from an unknown contact trying to get you to interact, especially if the message has spelling or grammatical errors. The same goes for messages from known contacts that sound different than usual.
2. You are unsolicitedly offered a competition or promised a discount. Such messages are usually fake, abusing well-known brand names. You should therefore be particularly skeptical here – especially if you first have to provide personal data in return. Before Easter, for example, a fake Milka sweepstakes was circulating on WhatsApp.
3. The message contains a clickable link that you did not request. Don’t click on this one.
