We were talking about it recently, the universal application (UWP) of WhatsApp for Windows will soon enjoy some interesting new features. Among them, a new shortcut system dedicated to emojis. Currently available on the UWP beta 2.2206.1.0, this new feature aims to make finding emojis easier. WhatsApp allows you to type certain keywords preceded by a colon to search for emojis in the application, which then appear on a banner above the input space.

As reminded Neowin, this feature had already been added for a long time on the web version of WhatsApp, as well as on the desktop application. It is therefore now available, as a bonus, on the UWB application for full availability.

New for the document preview on the Android app

For the Android application this time, WhatsApp is adorned with a new type of preview dedicated to documents. This new feature is useful for getting a first idea of a photo or video sent as a document by your correspondent. A good way to transfer files in their original quality (or definition), thus bypassing the compression normally performed by WhatsApp on this type of file.

For now, however, this new feature is reserved for WhatsApp Beta 2.22.5.11. Understand that if you’re using the latest stable version of the app on your Android smartphone… you won’t see it appear yet. Logically, its final deployment should take place in the coming weeks.
