The more than two billion users of WhatsApp across the world should soon be able to discover a brand new News section. In fact, the Meta group is working on an overhaul of its section in order to make updates from your contacts easier to preview.
Less than two weeks after the launch of our WhatsApp channel, ideal for staying in constant contact with high-tech news, Meta is preparing to modernize the News tab of its very popular instant messaging application.
While it will now be possible to see the list of different status updates for the same contact, all by simply clicking on the preview, the News tab will be subject to other changes.
WhatsApp’s News tab will get a makeover
It’s been almost a year since the WhatsApp application gained a brand new feature designed to compete with X.com (formerly Twitter) and Telegram: channels. If, since then, Meta’s messaging has not undergone any major overhaul, this should soon change with the presumed redesign of the News tab, and more precisely the “Status” section.
Indeed, according to recent discoveries of WABetaInfo relayed by our colleagues atAndroid Police (version 2.24.4.23 of the WhatsApp beta for Android), we can notice that status updates will now appear in the form of cards (and no longer in the form of circles), and that they will therefore be more imposing (and therefore more visible).
If, at first glance, this change in display may seem relatively anecdotal, note that it will allow users to benefit from a better overview of the updates of their contacts. Moreover, this could prove even more useful if you found that the channels took up a little too much space in the News tab. On WhatsApp, remember that the “Channels” and “Status” sections are now grouped in the News tab.
