Whereas WhatsApp
is working on a feature to use its instant messaging app
on a computer without using a smartphone, Meta is working in parallel on strengthening computer security.

New data found indicates that WhatsApp is working on two-factor authentication for its PC and Mac versions.

Double authentication arrives on PC and web

It was time. WhatsApp is finally working on a two-factor authentication service for its web and desktop versions. This is the site again WABetaInfo, known for digging into the bowels of the application in search of the slightest novelty, which revealed the information. This feature is already available on phones and is on its way to PC and Mac versions of WhatsApp.

As with smartphones, this double protection will involve the use of a personal 6-digit PIN code that must be entered when launching the application. This protects users from unwanted access to conversations and possible attacks. They will also be invited to define a backup email address in case they forget their PIN code, knowing that they can change it and deactivate the function at will. As usual, this feature is still in the works, and no release date is known at this time.
