The latest WhatsApp beta provides proof of the upcoming arrival of contacts as favorites. Concretely, it will be possible to designate contacts that you want to be able to call quickly, which will appear in the dedicated section. All you have to do is tap their profile photo to call them directly.
WhatsApp is certainly a messaging application, but that doesn’t stop it from placing emphasis on calls. After several months of focusing on group calls, Meta now seems to be focusing on more intimate conversations. In its latest beta, WhatsApp includes a new message about “favorite contacts”.
At this time, it is not possible to quickly access a specific contact. It is possible, however, to pin a conversation and then tap the profile photo of the contact in question to display the option to call them. But this is a relatively tedious process, which WhatsApp intends to simplify in a future update.

Here is what WhatsApp writes in its latest beta: “Favorites appear in your Calls tab so a phone call is always just a click away.” We can therefore deduce that the operation of favorites will be similar to that of pinned messages, by allowing you to select contacts which will systematically appear at the top of the list within the Calls tab.

All you have to do is go to the aforementioned tab and then click on the favorite contact to start a call. This is a much quicker operation than having to search for the contact’s name or scrolling until their name appears. Favorite contacts should also be placed in a new bar which will be introduced in the Calls tab, so that they are perfectly distinguished from the rest of the contacts.
For the moment, the functionality has not yet been deployed in beta. We will therefore have to be very patient before seeing what it will really look like.
