  • In WhatsApp groups, your phone number will be shown to everyone.
  • Apparently that will change soon.
  • At the moment there is only one trick you can use.

If you are added to a group on WhatsApp, everyone in this group can see your phone number. This can be uncomfortable, especially in large groups where you don’t have personal contact with everyone. WhatsApp is now planning a solution for this.

As the blog WA Beta Info reports, the telephone numbers of the participants will no longer be displayed in groups in the future. What is seen instead remains unclear. A display of your WhatsApp name or an abbreviated version of the phone number would be conceivable. If you want, you can share your number with the group.

The feature is currently under development. It is still unclear when it will start. According to WA Beta Info, the function has so far only been considered for groups that are assigned to a community.

Community is a new feature that WhatsApp plans to introduce later this year. With the function you should be able to bundle groups with similar topics and manage them centrally in the app.
