WhatsApp recently introduced a new type of messaging: video instant messages. If you don’t want to send them, you can deactivate the button. Here you can find out how it works.

- You can deactivate the button that is hidden behind the voice message symbol.
- However, there is no way to block receiving such messages.
The new video instant messages on WhatsApp are a new type of message in Messenger. You can use it to record video messages of up to 60 seconds long, which appear to the recipient in the form of a small, round bubble and look a bit like a kind of “voice message with picture”.
You can record them by tapping the voice message icon once, waiting until it turns into a camera and then holding it down. If you often accidentally start a video instant message instead of a voice message, there is the option to deactivate the function in the settings.
With this option, the button in the app that allows you to record video instant messages will be deactivated. Then the button is only responsible for voice messages. However, you cannot prevent other contacts from sending you such messages.
If you want to deactivate the function for sending video instant messages, you have to tap the three-dot menu in the top right corner of WhatsApp and open the settings. Then proceed as follows:

Opens the “Chats” menu and deactivate the video instant messaging feature by tapping the slider. Complete! Your video instant messages are now deactivated.
