Messenger WhatsApp has announced a new feature called “Channels”. You can use this to follow famous people, clubs and organizations in Messenger and then receive messages from them – like in a chat. You just can’t answer that.
Launch initially in Singapore and Colombia
WhatsApp channels should be available worldwide in the next few months, but the function will first be tested in Singapore. There you can subscribe to the following channels to start with.

- Singapore Heart Foundation
- World table tennis
- Honeycombers
The Singapore Heart Foundation is a charity dedicated to promoting heart health. The world table tennis association is behind World Table Tennis. Honeycombers is an online magazine that provides you with tips about living in Singapore and the Sustainable Living Lab is an innovation laboratory that aims to develop solutions for more sustainable living.
In addition to Singapore, the function is also to be tested in Colombia. However, there is no information here on which regional channels will be available, but WhatsApp has already revealed a few globally available channels, which will also be available in Singapore and Colombia at the start of the test phase.

How can you find channels in WhatsApp
The channels in Colombia and Singapore can currently only be accessed via special links. WhatsApp shares this on its Twitter channel. Anyone who clicks on it in this country does not end up on the channel, but only in the status update area of the app. In the future there will be a searchable directory of currently available channels in the app.
